In just two years, data centre builder Nscale has transformed from an unknown entity into a cornerstone of the UK’s AI infrastructure strategy. Backed by $14bn in committed compute capacity, the company is racing to deliver cutting-edge facilities across the UK, with plans to power AI workloads for major tech firms. Investors like Quadratic Capital and Begium have poured $470m into Nscale’s ventures, betting on its ability to scale rapidly.

However, industry experts warn that the company’s aggressive deadlines — including targets to operationalize sites by 2025 — may strain supply chains and regulatory approvals, risking delays.
