Sebastien Siou, a managing director at Canadian secondaries firm Overbay Capital Partners, has left the company after joining in 2024, Secondaries Investor has learned. Siou was part of Overbay's investment team and had previously worked at advisory firm Devon Park, Dawson Partners, and CPP Investments' secondaries team. His departure comes as Overbay manages over 500 fund investments with at least $2.5 billion in assets under management.

Siou's next career move remains unclear, and both Overbay and Siou declined to comment on the departure. The Toronto-based firm, founded in 2016 by former Setter Capital executive Robert McGrath, specializes in diversified, mature fund portfolios. Siou had been recognized as a rising star in the industry, ranking first in Secondaries Investor's Next Gen Leaders list of professionals under 36 in 2018.

The departure of a senior investment team member at a firm of Overbay's size represents a notable change in personnel for the secondaries market. While portfolio specialists often experience turnover, the loss of experienced professionals can impact deal flow and investment strategy execution. Industry observers will likely watch to see how Overbay manages this transition and whether it affects the firm's investment activities in the coming months.
