Novo Holdings, the investment manager for Denmark’s Novo Nordisk Foundation, is exploring increased use of continuation vehicles (CVs) in Asia. The firm, which manages a private equity-heavy asset portfolio, is open to utilizing these vehicles more frequently across the region, provided they align with its specific requirements as a direct, hands-on investor.

Singapore-based Amit Kakar, Novo Holdings’ Asia head, told Secondaries Investor that it is still early days for CVs in Asia. He noted that the firm has already demonstrated its interest by putting capital into a private equity continuation fund in Asia last year alongside KKR.

As the landscape for secondary transactions evolves, Novo Holdings remains focused on finding opportunities that meet its rigorous expectations. The firm’s strategic approach highlights how major institutional players are navigating the growing complexity of the Asian private equity market through innovative structures like continuation funds.
