Yale's endowment delivered a 26.3% return, net of fees, in the fiscal year ended 30 June 2026, generating $11.3bn of investment gains. After distributing $2.2bn to fund university operations, the endowment ended the year valued at $54.5bn.

Over the decade to June 2026, the endowment returned 11.7% annually, outperforming the median ten-year return for college and university endowments by an estimated 1.6% per year and a typical 70/30 stock and bond portfolio by 2.7% per year.

Matt Mendelsohn, Yale's chief investment officer, credited both his in-house team and external investment partners. "I am especially grateful for our team and our investment partners, whose talent and tireless efforts on behalf of the university produced these gains, and mindful that any individual year's result only matters as a step toward the accomplishment of our long-term goals," he said.
