Switzerland-based Partners Group is seeking to raise $1bn for its inaugural India-focused buyout fund, accelerating expansion in one of the world's fastest-growing private equity markets. The firm is engaging both existing and new investors, with the fund structure expected to finalize in coming weeks, bringing total potential India investment to around $2bn through its global flagship private equity fund.

India attracted $60.7bn across 1,475 private equity and venture capital deals in 2025, reflecting strong investor appetite. Partners Group joins global firms like KKR, Blackstone, and Brookfield that have increased exposure to the market, driven by improving exit opportunities and growing public markets that have enhanced returns for private capital.

The firm's private equity platform manages approximately $86bn in assets and has invested $125bn globally since inception, positioning it to scale new regional strategies. This expansion underscores India's growing importance in global private equity allocations and the competitive race among international firms to establish dominant positions in Asia's third-largest economy.
