Private equity firm L Catterton plans to invest approximately $313 million across five Japanese consumer businesses over the next three years, solidifying its position in Asia's rapidly growing private equity market. The strategy targets sectors including cosmetics, food, pet care, and restaurants, where the firm already possesses deep sector expertise. Japan has emerged as a standout market, with private equity deal value surging 81% to $33.4 billion last year despite regional declines.

L Catterton, formed in 2016 from Catterton and LVMH's private equity unit, manages roughly $40 billion globally and has already invested in nine Japanese companies since establishing its office in 2017. Portfolio highlights include furniture distributor Ciesse, fashion brand Kapital, and the world's largest Kobe beef restaurant chain. The firm primarily targets private, family-run businesses facing succession challenges or seeking expansion support.
