Energy Capital Partners (ECP) has closed a single-asset continuation vehicle with $834m in commitments for Next Wave Energy Partners, extending its ownership of the Houston-based fuels business. The deal offers investors in ECP’s fourth flagship fund, ECP IV, the option to fully monetise their stake in Next Wave, while giving new investors access to the asset. ECP, which has been part of Bridgepoint Group since 2024, will reinvest its own proceeds into the vehicle.
The transaction caps a long holding period. ECP first backed Next Wave in April 2015, committing up to $500m in equity alongside the company’s management team to develop and acquire midstream and downstream petrochemical and fuels assets.
