Kinderhook Industries completed its acquisition of Enhabit, a national home health and hospice provider, in a deal valued at approximately $1.1 billion. The transaction removes Enhabit from public markets, as the company's common stock has ceased trading on the New York Stock Exchange and the company has become a privately held entity.

Enhabit, based in Dallas, was founded in 2022 when spun off from Encompass Health Corp. Kinderhook, a New York-based middle market private equity firm established in 2003, specializes in management buyouts of entrepreneurial-owned businesses in healthcare services and select other sectors, making this acquisition a strategic fit for their investment thesis.

The acquisition underscores growing private equity interest in home healthcare services, a sector experiencing increased demand as the population ages. Enhabit's transition to private ownership may accelerate strategic initiatives without public market scrutiny, while Kinderhook expands its portfolio in the high-growth healthcare services niche where profit margins remain attractive for disciplined investors.
