Accel-KKR-backed Basware has signed a binding agreement to acquire Trustpair, combining Basware’s invoice lifecycle management platform with Trustpair’s payment fraud prevention technology. The deal aims to provide customers with full invoice-to-payment assurance, verifying both invoice legitimacy and that payments reach the intended supplier. Trustpair, founded in 2017 and a Nacha Preferred Partner, validates supplier bank account details at onboarding, when account information changes, and before payments are authorized.

The company serves customers using SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Zycus, Ivalua, Jaggaer, and Kyriba systems. The acquisition comes as businesses lose an estimated 8 percent of revenue to fraud annually, with generative AI making supplier impersonation cheaper and more common. The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners found that 75 percent of anti-fraud professionals reported a rise in generative AI-driven document fraud over the past two years, while only seven percent said their organizations are more than moderately prepared.

Trustpair will continue operating independently under its own brand and existing systems, with its investors—including Axeleo Capital, Breega, and Tikehau Capital—continuing to support the company. Basware, which describes itself as the market leader in invoice lifecycle management, will integrate Trustpair’s fraud-prevention capabilities into its platform. This deal builds on Basware’s 2023–2025 acquisitions of Glantus, AP Matching, and Redmap.

The transaction is expected to close later in 2026.
