Aldaron, a new firm combining AI engineering with control-oriented investing, has launched and disclosed its first deal: a majority equity investment in Oak Point Partners, which the release describes as the leading institutional purchaser of remnant assets. No financial terms were disclosed. The deal was completed in March 2026.
Co-headquartered in San Francisco and New York, Aldaron describes its strategy as "transformation equity." Its Deployment Team, made up of engineers and investment professionals, works alongside management at each portfolio company to rework how the business operates and build AI systems that drive equity value. The team has more than 25 years of collective experience at Palantir. Aldaron was co-founded by Will Oberndorf, Evan Mendez and Jay Grewal. Grewal co-founded Palantir's commercial business and co-created its Foundry platform. Mendez previously worked in the technology group at Carlyle and was an early member of the firm's AI team. Oberndorf spent the past decade building the private markets investment practice at Oberndorf Enterprises.
Since 2006, Oak Point has completed more than 2,000 transactions, buying intangible assets and payment rights from Fortune 500 companies, PE-backed businesses and distressed entities. The company is headquartered outside Chicago and led by founder and CEO Eric Linn. Oak Point's existing investors remain invested in the business, according to Linn.
Aldaron's Deployment Team is adding AI and machine learning capabilities to Oak Point's operations, with the aim of speeding up the discovery of remnant assets across its more than 1,000 asset channels and increasing operational capacity. Mendez said Oak Point has spent 20 years building a platform with proprietary data and deep domain expertise that technology can significantly amplify.
