Novanta is acquiring Riverpoint Medical from private equity firm Arlington Capital Partners in a deal valued at $1.45 billion. Riverpoint Medical, founded in 2008, specializes in developing and marketing medical devices, particularly surgical solutions using fiber, polymer, and bioabsorbable materials.

The transaction comprises $1.2 billion in upfront cash, with an additional $250 million contingent on meeting specific milestones in the first quarter of 2027. This acquisition allows Novanta, already active in medical components and subsystems, to expand its offerings in the healthcare sector.

Arlington Capital, a firm focused on regulated industries, exits its investment in Riverpoint Medical. Novanta, a Nasdaq-listed entity, gains critical surgical device capabilities, bolstering its position in the competitive medical technology market through this strategic purchase.

This transaction underscores continued investor appetite for specialized medical device manufacturers and the ongoing consolidation within the healthcare technology supply chain.
