Copenhagen-based fintech Spektr has raised $20 million in a Series A funding round led by New Enterprise Associates, bringing its total funding to just under $26 million. The company, founded by repeat entrepreneurs Mikkel Skarnager and Ciprian Florescu, provides AI-powered compliance infrastructure for financial services teams. Their platform automates traditionally manual tasks like document reviews, ownership mapping, and risk analysis through specialized AI agents.

This marks the founders' second successful venture after selling their previous startup, HelloFlow, to Trulioo in 2022 for over $50 million. Spektr's approach differs from legacy compliance tools by executing work rather than just managing workflows. The AI agents perform specific compliance tasks end-to-end while maintaining human oversight and transparency. Since launching its enhanced platform last August, the company has seen significant customer adoption.

The fresh capital will fuel expansion, including opening offices in London and New York to serve their growing client base, which includes Pleo, Santander Leasing, and major U.S. marketplaces. With 45 employees and counting, Spektr aims to scale its engineering team to meet the complex needs of large banks and fintechs. NEA partner Luke Pappas praised the founders' domain expertise and ability to demonstrate live use cases, positioning Spektr as a unique solution that can coexist with existing systems while providing orchestration for eventual full replacement.
