League Transactions & Injuries
The Capitals secured a commitment from highly-touted prospect Cole Hutson, signing the Boston University defenseman to a three-year entry-level contract immediately following his college season's conclusion in the Hockey East tournament. This immediate signing signals Washington's intent to bolster its defensive corps as they push for a playoff berth, contrasting sharply with the injury woes facing other contenders. Specifically, Montreal's Kirby Dach had to depart Sunday night's matchup against the Anaheim Ducks after sustaining an upper-body injury resulting from a high check delivered by Ducks winger Jeffrey Viel.
