WNBA
A'ja Wilson captured a record fifth WNBA Most Valuable Player award, and she said she will skip the pregame ceremony to focus on Game. Her dominance has sparked comparisons with the sport's all-time greats, as her MVP run is measured against the league's elite. Elsewhere, the Fever faced another early playoff exit despite a dominant offense and Caitlin Clark's return. Clark also denounced online hate aimed at teammate Kelsey Mitchell after Mitchell spoke out.
MLB
The stage is set for the NLCS rematch between the Dodgers and Brewers, with a clear path to the World Series laid out for both clubs.
College Football
Most Big Ten teams are seeking a statement win this weekend, with a CFP preview in Georgia-Alabama also drawing attention. Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti said the conference has had no expansion discussions even as a potential PCSA cap looms. The coaching community is also tracing its roots, as Nick Saban's tree now spans 45 head coaches across four college stops and one NFL team. Michigan State's Tom Izzo, meanwhile, described his approach as right school rather than old-school when it comes to roster building.
Golf and Boxing
Daniel Hillier won an electric BMW SUV after acing the 187-yard par-3 17th at the Spanish Open. In boxing, Jake Paul has been cleared to fight again following his injury recovery, with Canelo and Strickland among the names on his wish list.
