For $7.99 per month, Premium Lite removes ads from most non-music videos but still displays ads on Shorts and excludes the YouTube Music app. The full YouTube Premium plan costs $13.99 monthly and offers complete ad removal across all content plus additional tools like queuing. The new features significantly close the value gap between the two tiers.

The rollout for background play and downloads begins immediately but may take several weeks to reach all Premium Lite users.
