Apple is reportedly developing a new MacBook Neo featuring two significant upgrades: an A19 Pro chip and increased RAM. The second-generation model is expected to come with 12GB of RAM, a step up from the current model's 8GB powered by the A18 Pro chip. New color options are also anticipated, adding to the existing Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo finishes.

While a release date hasn't been confirmed, the first half of next year appears probable, following the current model's March release. The MacBook Neo initially launched at $599 in the U.S. but saw a price increase to $699 last month. However, it remains accessible at the lower price point through Apple's education store for eligible students or via certified refurbished models.

Despite a recent $100 price hike, the MacBook Neo continues to be Apple's most affordable MacBook, significantly undercutting the MacBook Air's $1,299 starting price. Apple had previously noted high demand for the device, and it will be interesting to observe the impact of the price adjustment on future sales. The company's upcoming quarterly earnings report is scheduled for July 30.
