Apple plans to unveil a new Mac mini in the coming days, according to Mark Gurman. The launch will likely occur before the iPhone 18 Pro event on September 9, serving as Apple's final new product before Tim Cook steps down as CEO on September 1. Apple has tested the next-generation Mac mini with both M5 and M6 chips, though the final configuration remains unclear.

Currently, the Mac mini offers M4 and M4 Pro chips with 16GB to 48GB of RAM and up to 8TB of storage. Pricing recently shifted after Apple reintroduced the 256GB configuration for $799 in late June. Due to rising popularity for on-device AI models and a memory chip shortage, delivery estimates currently range from 4 to 10 weeks.

In February, Apple announced Foxconn would begin assembling Mac mini units at a new facility in Houston, Texas, which opened this month with Tim Cook in attendance. The new model may emphasize U.S. assembly.
