The 53-second footage shows Earth disappearing behind the lunar surface from the Orion capsule's docking hatch window, marking a milestone for consumer technology in space exploration.

Apple's iPhone received NASA qualification for extended use in orbit in February 2026, and the Artemis II crew members each carried an iPhone 17 Pro Max for personal photography. Wiseman's Earthset video demonstrates the device's capabilities at 8x zoom, which he noted provides a view 'quite comparable to the human eye.' The footage captures detailed lunar craters as Earth slips out of sight, with the camera briefly adjusting focus during the zoom transition.

This achievement builds on previous iPhone 17 Pro Max photography from the mission, including selfies with Earth in the background.
