iPhone Air Adds Dual Camera for Spring 2027 Launch

Apple plans to release an updated iPhone Air in spring 2027 featuring a dual-lens camera system, according to Bloomberg. The new model adds an Ultra Wide lens alongside the existing Wide lens, addressing the single-camera limitation that has made the current version less competitive than iPhone 17 options.

The device has entered advanced testing with the same overall design as today's model. Apple aims to improve battery performance through either a larger cell or enhanced efficiency, though the similar form factor may limit physical battery expansion. Power comes from a new A20 chip built on Apple's 2nm process, which should deliver better efficiency gains.

This upgrade directly responds to customer complaints about the iPhone Air's camera capabilities. While the standard iPhone 17 offers dual cameras and Pro models have three, the current Air lags with just one lens. The timing positions the iPhone Air alongside the iPhone 18 lineup, with Pro variants and a foldable iPhone expected later in 2027.

The dual-camera addition finally gives iPhone Air buyers comparable photography features to other models, making the thinner, lighter design more compelling for users who prioritize portability without sacrificing basic camera functionality.
