Chinese regulatory filings reveal the Pro Max will pack a 5,567 mAh cell — nearly 10% larger than the iPhone 17 Pro Max — while the Pro settles for 4,288 mAh, a gain of less than 1% over its predecessor.

The disparity suggests Apple is using the Pro Max's rumored thicker chassis to accommodate meaningful capacity growth, a strategy that hasn't been this pronounced in recent generations. Both models will share the same 48-megapixel Fusion camera with variable aperture, ending the pattern where the Max got camera features first.
