Apple's upcoming iOS 27 introduces several practical improvements alongside major AI features. The headline additions include dual phone numbers allowing users to share one number across two iPhones, independent alarm volume controls, and a Messages drawing app. These updates address common user complaints while maintaining Apple's focus on seamless device integration and enhanced functionality.

The operating system brings faster AirPlay and AirDrop transfers, extra-large widgets that fill entire app pages, and the ability to set expiration dates for shared photo albums. Users can now save individual video frames as photos, add Markdown formatting to Notes, and benefit from improved Weather app views with precipitation and wind data across hourly and 10-day forecasts.

iOS 27 also includes dozens of optimizations including faster Mail message loading, enhanced Safari power efficiency, smoother App Library scrolling, and more accurate Bluetooth power management. The developer beta is currently available, with a public beta scheduled for July and the official release expected this fall.
