Google is rolling out Personal Intelligence to all Gemini users in the U.S., bringing personalized AI features to free accounts. After testing with paid subscribers, the feature now expands across AI Mode in Search, the Gemini app, and Gemini in Chrome. Personal Intelligence allows Gemini to pull data from connected Google apps like Gmail, Photos, and YouTube to deliver tailored responses.

Users can opt into connecting services like Gmail and Google Photos, though the feature is off by default. Google emphasizes that Gemini doesn't directly train on inbox or library content, but prompts and responses may be used for model improvement. The company provides examples like custom shopping recommendations based on past purchases, tech troubleshooting using receipt data, and travel suggestions tailored to user preferences.

This move positions Google to compete directly with Apple's upcoming Siri enhancements, which will similarly access emails, messages, and photos for personalization. While Apple has delayed its Siri updates multiple times, Google's Personal Intelligence is available now to free users, giving it an early advantage in the race to deliver more context-aware AI assistants.
