Apple is set to reintroduce its striking ceramic Apple Watch casing, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The ceramic case option is expected to return either this year or in 2027. Apple first launched a ceramic Edition with the Series 2 in September 2016, pricing the line at a modest $1,249.

The white ceramic finish, made from compressed zirconia and alumina and polished with a diamond slurry, was marketed as four times as hard as stainless steel. Apple added a gray ceramic option with the Series 3, but the Edition line disappeared for the Series 4 in 2018, leaving no high‑end case that year.

The white ceramic finish returned for the Series 5 in 2019 alongside a titanium option, only to be discontinued for good when the Series 6 launched in 2020. The material has been absent for six years but remains highly sought after on the resale market.

Beyond the ceramic reintroduction, the upcoming Series 12 and Ultra 4 promise modest upgrades, including a new chip (likely a fresh S10) and new color, band, and health features. They are slated for launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the first foldable iPhone.
