Apple Watch Ultra 4 May Get Major Redesign and Blood Pressure Tracking

The Apple Watch Ultra 4 could arrive with a complete redesign and new blood pressure monitoring capabilities, according to DigiTimes. Apple plans to add a high blood pressure notification feature that uses the optical heart-rate sensor to analyze how blood vessels respond to each heartbeat, sending alerts when abnormal patterns are detected. The feature is currently under FDA review.

This appears to build on the Hypertension Notifications that Apple introduced with watchOS 26 last fall, which analyzed blood vessel responses over 30-day periods. Earlier Apple Watch models already had some blood-pressure sensing capabilities, but this new feature seems to represent a more refined or clinically validated implementation. Apple's next health monitoring focus will likely be noninvasive blood-glucose monitoring.

Market analysts predict the redesign could boost Apple Watch shipments by 20% to 30% compared to 2025. Taiwan-Asia Semiconductor (TASC), Apple's exclusive sensor supplier, is expected to receive large-volume orders starting in July. The Ultra 4 is expected in fall 2026 alongside the Apple Watch Series 12, iPhone 18 Pro models, and a foldable "iPhone Ultra."
