Apple is testing a flip-style foldable iPhone design, according to supply chain leaker Fixed Focus Digital on Weibo. The device would compete with Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Motorola Razr in the growing foldable phone market. This flip design comes alongside Apple's planned book-style foldable iPhone launching later this year.

The clamshell iPhone would follow Apple's first foldable, which opens like a book similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7. While the book-style design targets large-screen multitasking and gaming, the clamshell variant focuses on portability and pocketability. Apple is reportedly exploring both designs, though mass production of the flip version remains undecided.

Apple's first foldable iPhone is rumored to feature a 7.8-inch crease-free inner display, 5.5-inch cover display, Touch ID, two rear cameras, the A20 chip, and the "C2" modem. It's expected to launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models this fall, marking Apple's entry into the foldable smartphone category after years of development and testing.
