Apple Store Relocates to Bigger Space in Ann Arbor

Apple's flagship retail outlet in Ann Arbor is set to leave its current spot inside the Briarwood Mall and open a significantly larger storefront within the same complex. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says the move could happen as early as the end of July. The new location will sit on a redeveloped section of the mall’s surface parking lot, expanding the brand’s presence in Michigan.

Simon Property Group, the mall’s owner, has been converting part of the lot into a mixed‑use area that blends retail, dining and community space. Apple’s relocation aligns with that strategy, giving the tech giant a more spacious floor plan to showcase its latest devices and services. Shoppers will gain a larger demo area, while the mall hopes to significantly boost foot traffic and lease revenue.

The shift underscores Apple’s willingness to adapt store footprints to evolving mall concepts, a trend seen in other markets as retailers chase experiential layouts. Ann Arbor customers will see the brand’s most sizable Michigan venue to date, potentially drawing visitors from nearby college towns. Apple will begin construction this summer, targeting a July opening.
