Apple Invites Widget Update Adds 'Next Upcoming' Option

Apple has updated its Apple Invites app with a useful enhancement to its Home Screen widget. The latest version, released today, introduces a "Next Upcoming" option that automatically refreshes to show your closest event as they pass by. Previously, users had to manually select a specific event for the countdown widget.

This update builds on the widget functionality added in August 2025, which initially required choosing individual events. The new automatic option provides more convenience for users who frequently create multiple events. The update also includes bug fixes and performance improvements to enhance the overall user experience.

Launched in February 2025, Apple Invites simplifies event planning by allowing users to create invitations with custom backgrounds, descriptions, and shared photo albums. While creating events requires an iCloud+ subscription (starting at 99 cents per month for 50GB in the U.S.), anyone can RSVP to events for free through the iPhone app or web interface at iCloud.com/invites.
