Apple Implements UNiDAYS Verification for Education Discounts

Apple now requires UNiDAYS verification for education discounts in the U.S., Canada, and Chile. The company is implementing a verification system that it uses in other countries, including a special process for homeschool families. This change comes after previously having no established verification system in these markets, allowing anyone to purchase from the Education Store.

Apple is also expanding its Education Store to include the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra 3, making students and teachers eligible for up to a 10 percent discount on Apple's most popular wearable. Customers can verify status through the UNiDAYS app or website using educational institution email addresses, student/staff IDs, or other valid documents.

The verification process for homeschool students requires an identity document and a homeschool document like a Letter of Intent. Most customers receive instant verification, with manual decisions within 24 hours. Apple briefly used UNiDAYS in the U.S. in 2022 but removed it after complaints about verification issues. The Education Store offers discounts on Macs, iPads, Studio Display, and accessories.
