Apple has released iOS 18.7.6 to resolve an emergency calling issue affecting iPhone XS and iPhone XR models in Australia. The update addresses problems that prevented these older devices from properly connecting to emergency services on Australian mobile networks.

Australian carriers have been upgrading their networks to improve emergency call support, but these changes inadvertently caused connectivity issues with older iPhone models. Apple has been working through multiple software updates to fix the problem, with iOS 18.7.6 being the latest attempt.

This release comes after Apple temporarily pulled several previous updates in December, including iOS 18.7.4, iOS 16.7.13, iOS 15.8.6, and iOS 12.5.8, when they worsened the emergency calling problems. The company has now issued multiple subsequent updates, including iOS 16.7.4 and iOS 26.2.1, in an effort to fully resolve the issue.
