Incoming Apple CEO John Ternus is bringing back Laura Legros, a former vice president of hardware engineering who retired in 2022. Legros, who previously oversaw product delivery and development schedules, will report directly to Ternus and work across various company divisions.

Legros was considered one of Ternus' most trusted deputies before her retirement. She previously presented at Apple events, introducing the 2018 MacBook Air and the 2020 iPad Air. As Ternus prepares to assume the CEO role on September 1, he has been actively involved in executive meetings and product planning, shadowing current CEO Tim Cook.

Tim Cook will transition to the role of executive chairman, focusing on global policy engagement. Ternus's strategic hires signal a focus on strengthening the hardware division as he takes the helm.
