Android manufacturers are considering a major shift in their launch approach, potentially adopting Apple's split release strategy for flagship devices. According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the Android ecosystem may separate Pro series and standard models into different launch windows to better compete with Apple's upcoming strategy.

Apple plans to break from its traditional September release cycle by dividing the iPhone 18 lineup across two separate periods. The iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and first foldable iPhone would arrive in fall 2026, while standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air would follow in spring 2027. Supply constraints and maximizing premium revenue appear to drive this change.

Industry analysts like Ming-Chi Kuo support the strategy, noting it prevents diluted marketing across six devices while addressing Android's first-half advantage. Currently, Samsung launches all Galaxy S tiers simultaneously each February or March, unlike Apple's planned staggered approach.

This potential shift would fundamentally invert how Android brands time their releases, moving from entry-level-first to premium-leading launches. If adopted, it signals intensified competition as manufacturers seek to optimize their market positioning and revenue streams.
