WhatsApp Adds Group Message History Sharing

WhatsApp has launched a new Group Message History feature to help users catch up on conversations they've missed. The feature allows group admins and members to share recent messages with newly added participants, addressing the common frustration of joining active groups mid-conversation.

When adding new members, a pop-up appears offering to share between 25 and 100 recent messages. The shared history maintains end-to-end encryption and includes sender information and timestamps. Group admins retain control through settings that can disable message history sharing entirely.

All group members receive notifications when recent messages are shared with newcomers. The feature is rolling out gradually to users worldwide, marking another step in WhatsApp's ongoing evolution of group chat functionality.
