Sony LinkBuds Clip: Clip-on Earbuds with 37-Hour Battery

Sony's latest LinkBuds Clip brings a fresh clip-on design to the open-wear stereo earbuds market, building on the original LinkBuds from 2022. The new model features 10mm drivers, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, and up to 37 hours of battery life when combining the buds and charging case. Priced at $230/€200/£180, they come in multiple colors including Black and Lavender.

Crafted entirely from plastic, the C-shaped design connects a speaker module to a bean-shaped piece that rests behind the ear helix. Sony claims they fit a wide array of ear shapes, and testing confirms they offer all-day comfort without putting unnecessary pressure. The flexible connecting cable between the two halves ensures they stay attached during movement. However, the buds lack wear detection sensors - a feature common even in entry-level earbuds - meaning they won't automatically pause playback when removed.

The LinkBuds Clip support SBC and AAC codecs, Sony's DSEE upscaling algorithm, and 360 Reality Audio for spatial sound. Users can customize their listening experience through a 10-band equalizer in the Sony Sound Connect app, with three listening modes available: standard, voice boost, and sound leakage reduction. While the IPX4 splash resistance rating provides basic protection, the charging case itself lacks any ingress protection.
