S26 Ultra vs S25: Incremental Upgrades?

Samsung's latest Galaxy S26 Ultra arrives with modest upgrades over its predecessor, raising questions about the value proposition for consumers. While both phones benefit from Samsung's 7-year software support promise, the S26 brings thinner design with rounded corners, a protruding camera island, and a switch from titanium to Armor aluminum 2 frame.

The display remains largely unchanged with identical 6.9-inch LTPO OLED panels, though the S26 introduces a Privacy Display feature. Battery life improves despite the same 5,000 mAh capacity, while charging speed jumps to 60W from 45W. Performance gains from the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset deliver 17-19% better benchmark scores.

Camera hardware sees minimal changes, with brighter aperture lenses on the main and 5x telephoto cameras. Image quality differences are subtle, with the S26 producing slightly warmer tones and preserving more detail at 2x zoom. For consumers already using the S25 Ultra, the incremental improvements may not justify the upgrade cost.
