Oppo Find X10 Teases True-to-Life Imaging

Oppo has launched the Find X10 Pro Max and Find X10 in China on September 22, and the phones are set to debut globally later this month. Ahead of that launch, the company has released a short video highlighting what it calls "true-to-life imaging." Oppo argues that smartphone photos have grown brighter, sharper and more vibrant over the years, to the point that "sometimes our photos don't look the way we remember" them.

The series is powered by Oppo's new Lumo True Image Engine, which combines three parts: the Lumo Hyper Pixel Engine for detail, the Lumo True Color Engine for color, and the Lumo Natural Tone Engine for tones. The company says the goal is to capture the world "as it really is, not as algorithms try to render it." Oppo specifically cites "oversaturated colors, over-brightened faces, aggressive HDR" and "excessive sharpening" as factors that can warp an image, though it does not name any competitors.

In practice, the 26MP default photos replace the usual 12MP across focal lengths from ultrawide to 9.9x zoom. Hasselblad Hi-Res Mode can output 50MP shots at five focal lengths, along with full 200MP images from the native 200MP cameras. The True Color Camera, with 24-channel multispectral sensing and up to 15 EV of dynamic range, aids white balance for skin tones, skies and foliage.

On video, the Find X10 Pro Max's main camera uses Samsung-co-developed Deep Pix tech for up to 17 stops of single-frame dynamic range at 4K 60fps. Both phones support O-Log2, Dolby Vision, real-time LUT preview and Open Gate Capture. Oppo has also optimized the Blackmagic Camera app for the series and partnered with Tilta on a Khronos Creator Kit for the Pro Max. Global pricing and availability will be revealed on October 21, with the series launching in India a day later.
