Oppo Enco Air5s Review: Semi-In-Ear Design with Sliding Gestures

GSMArena has put the new Oppo Enco Air5s through their paces, offering a detailed look at what Opped bills as its first semi-in-ear earbuds. Available in Lunar White, Midnight Black, and Starlight Purple, these open-ear buds ditch traditional silicone tips for a more comfortable long-wear experience.

The Air5s share the 12mm dynamic driver found in the Air5 and Air5 Pro models, but feature a more compact charging case despite maintaining the same 530mAh battery capacity. In-bud batteries drop to 40.5mAh from the Air5's 62mAh, resulting in 48 hours of total battery life versus 52 hours on the standard Air5.

A standout addition is sliding gestures for volume control, which joins traditional tap controls and addresses a common pain point for users. Active noise cancellation makes an appearance but falls short of Air5 levels, offering minimal environmental noise reduction typical of open-ear designs.

Sound quality mirrors the Air5 with strong midrange presence and emphasized treble, though the open-ear design naturally produces weaker bass response. These earbuds prioritize comfort and situational awareness over pure audio isolation, making them ideal for users who want 48-hour battery life in a lightweight package without deep ear penetration.
