Huawei has unveiled the Pura X Max, a significantly larger version of its wide foldable phone. The device features a 5.4-inch cover display and a 7.7-inch internal screen, up from 3.5 inches and 6.3 inches on the original Pura X. The Max also measures just 11.2mm thick when folded, a substantial reduction from the 15.1mm thickness of its predecessor.

The larger form factor brings stylus support – the Huawei M-Pen 3 Mini pairs with a specially-designed case. Display specs include 1-120Hz LTPO 2.0 panels with 1,440Hz PWM dimming, though the inner display uses a nearly square 14:10 aspect ratio rather than the original's media-friendly 16:10. Power comes from the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset, promising a 30% performance boost over the previous generation, paired with a 5,300mAh battery supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The camera system upgrades to a 50MP main sensor with variable aperture (f/1.4-4.0), a 50MP periscope, and 12.5MP ultra-wide – all using RYYB sensors. The device runs HarmonyOS 6.1 and touts improved IP58/IP59 water resistance. Pricing starts at CNY 11,000 ($1,615) for the 12GB/256GB model, with a 1TB option reaching CNY 14,000 ($2,055). It's launching today in China, though availability outside that market remains uncertain.
