Google has officially confirmed what Apple first hinted at in January: Gemini will power the next generation of Apple Intelligence. During the Cloud Next 2026 conference in Las Vegas, Google Cloud chief Thomas Kurian announced the partnership, calling it a "monumental" collaboration that will bring the power of Google's technology to Apple users worldwide.

The deal means a completely revamped Siri will arrive later this year, likely debuting at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The new assistant will be built on Apple Foundation Models developed with Google as Apple's preferred cloud provider. Originally planned for last year, then delayed to spring, Apple apparently ran into accuracy issues that pushed the timeline further.

What remains unclear is where the Gemini models will actually run — whether on Google's servers or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute system. The first public details should arrive at WWDC in June, with the full release shipping in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 this fall.
