Apple has yet to unveil its first foldable iPhone, but recent reports claim the tech giant is already locking in plans for a second‑ and third‑generation lineup. The initial model, anticipated to launch in September, is rumored to be called the iPhone Ultra and is expected to combine a 5.5‑inch cover display with a 7.8‑inch foldable inner screen.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his Power On newsletter, says Apple is gearing up for a second‑generation foldable slated for 2027. This aligns with an earlier June rumor that the model would keep the same design as its predecessor, suggesting a conservative approach to incremental upgrades.

Gurman also reports that Apple has begun developing a third‑generation foldable, slated to feature larger displays on both the cover and the interior. While exact dimensions remain undisclosed, the new model is expected to push the boundaries of foldable screen real estate, potentially offering a more immersive experience.

These developments hint that Apple is positioning its foldable strategy to compete with other manufacturers, focusing on design continuity while gradually expanding screen size. Industry analysts predict that the company’s phased rollout could reinforce its ecosystem advantage and drive adoption among power users seeking versatile form factors.
