Apple has refreshed the base 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac models with its latest M6 processor. The 14-inch MacBook Pro previously ran the M5 chip from 2025, while the iMac was last updated in 2024 with the M4. The base 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 features a 12-core CPU in a 2+4+6 layout and a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. A separate dual 16-core Neural Engine is included. Standard memory is 16GB unified memory, configurable to 24GB or 32GB. Only the 24GB and 32GB options get the full 170GB/s memory bandwidth, while the 16GB model gets 153GB/s. Storage starts at 1TB, with 2TB and 4TB options available. The MacBook Pro also gains the new Apple N1 wireless chip, upgrading to Wi-Fi7 802.11be and Bluetooth 6.

The iMac also receives the M6 chip in two configurations. The top model uses the same fully enabled chip as the MacBook Pro. The base iMac model uses a cut-down variant with a 10-core CPU in a 2+3+5 configuration and a 10-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and ray tracing. Both models include the dual 16-core Neural Engine and 16GB unified memory as standard, with 24GB or 32GB options. Unlike the MacBook Pro, Apple does not differentiate memory bandwidth on the iMac, so even the 16GB model reportedly gets the full 170GB/s.

Both iMac models start with 256GB SSD storage, with 512GB or 1TB options available for both and an additional 2TB option for the top model. Like the MacBook Pro, the iMac also gets the Apple N1 wireless chip and an optional nano-texture display coating. Aside from these updates, both devices are otherwise unchanged from their predecessors.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999. The iMac starts at $1,499 for the 10-core model and $1,699 for the 12-core model. Both machines will be available for pre-order on October 28 and go on sale Friday, November 6.
