Yacht Club Games' Mina the Hollower is launching on May 29 for $19.99 across Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The studio, known for Shovel Knight, delayed the 6-year development project to last year’s Halloween release to add polish, per a tweet from the team. The game features an 8-bit aesthetic with 60fps combat, drawing from Zelda and Castlevania.

Studio head Sean Velasco called the game a ‘make-or-break’ moment, noting sales of 200,000 copies would be ‘really, really great’—a sign of the studio’s financial reliance on the title. The game pits player Mina, a whip-wielding mouse, against gothic horror in a top-down adventure. Yacht Club, which downsize after spending most of its capital on the project, previously planned a Halloween release but pushed it to May.

Yacht Club’s survival hinges on Mina the Hollower’s performance, with Velasco stating 100,000 copies sold would be ‘not so good.’ The release follows a six-year development window, with the studio prioritizing game quality over rushed launch dates.
