WhatsApp has introduced several new call features, notably enabling encrypted calls directly through its web interface. Users can now initiate or join audio and video conversations on their computer without needing to download a separate app. These web-based calls, supporting both one-on-one and group conversations, are end-to-end encrypted, mirroring the security of mobile calls.

Additional enhancements include the ability to transfer calls seamlessly between devices, moving from mobile to desktop or web and vice versa. For group calls, a new "waiting room" feature allows hosts to approve participants before they join when the "Require approval to join" option is active.

WhatsApp is also improving call quality with a tool to minimize background noise and faster HD video streaming. These features are being rolled out gradually to all users, aiming to provide a more convenient and robust calling experience across platforms.
