### UMG and ElevenLabs Launch AI Music Platform

Universal Music Group and ElevenLabs have announced a multi-year licensing agreement and wider strategic collaboration to launch a new AI-powered licensed music platform. The unnamed software will be built around licensed music from UMG artists who choose to participate and will be distinct from ElevenLabs' existing Eleven Music AI music generation software. The platform is aimed at music fans who want to create remixes and mashups of participating artists' tracks, with artists receiving fair compensation.

ElevenLabs' tools will also enable new track interpretations and personalized vocal experiences. The deal marks ElevenLabs' first major label partnership and comes amid ongoing industry tensions around AI-generated music, including past legal disputes over copyright infringement. While UMG recently joined a coalition calling for AI-generated tracks to be banned from charts, it has also pursued licensing deals, as seen in settlements with AI companies like Suno and Udio.

Suno recently launched its v6 model, signaling formal relationships with labels including Warner and BMG. No release date has been announced for the UMG-ElevenLabs platform.
