Musical Beings has launched Tembo, a wooden drum machine with a tactile magnetic sequencer that might be the cutest ever made. Users arrange beats by placing circular pucks on the sequencer, creating a hands-on approach to music making that sidesteps the complexity of digital audio workstations.

Designed to make music accessible from the first touch, Tembo features a five-channel, 16-step sequencer with knobs for swing, tempo, effects and pattern length. The battery-powered device includes two USB-C MIDI connections, a built-in speaker, integrated sampler, and dedicated companion app for recording sessions via USB audio or stereo output.

The Kickstarter has already surpassed its funding goal, with prices ranging from $360 to $450 depending on the tier. While Musical Beings is a new company, some musicians and studios have already received units, demonstrating early traction for this approachable yet fully-featured drum machine.
