Eleven major tech companies and retailers have joined forces against online scams through the Industry Accord Against Online Scams & Fraud. Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Meta, Amazon, OpenAI, Adobe, Pinterest, Target, Levi's, and Match Group pledged cooperation to combat increasingly sophisticated criminal tactics, including AI-powered scams targeting consumers globally.

The initiative outlines four key goals: developing proactive prevention measures, improving information sharing with law enforcement, building digital resilience through defensive tools, and educating the public about scam techniques. Google's Karen Courington emphasized that industry unity is essential to address this growing threat collectively.

Notably absent from the accord is Apple, whose reasons for non-participation remain unclear. Scams already cost consumers an estimated $442 billion annually, making this collaboration potentially crucial for reducing financial fraud across platforms and protecting vulnerable users from deceptive digital practices.
