Spyro the Dragon is flying back to consoles with Spyro: A Realm Beyond, the first original entry in nearly two decades. Toys for Bob unveiled the game at Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase, promising expanded 3D platforming where players seamlessly transition between ground exploration and aerial flight.

Studio head Paul Yan emphasized preserving Spyro's signature fluid movement while scaling up the experience. The developers aim to capture what makes playing as a dragon special, shaping environments to support both exploration styles. They're targeting both newcomers and longtime fans who remember the original PlayStation trilogy.

This marks Toys for Bob's return to original projects after spending years supporting Call of Duty and Overwatch 2 following Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The team previously revitalized Spyro with the Reignited Trilogy and delivered Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.

Tom Kenny reprises his role as Spyro's voice, maintaining continuity with the classic games. Spyro: A Realm Beyond launches in spring 2027 across all major platforms, finally giving the purple dragon his first proper adventure since 2008's Dawn of the Dragon.
