SpaceX has officially acquired the AI coding startup Cursor. The deal, announced in June following preparations that began in April, integrates Cursor into SpaceX, which had previously merged with Elon Musk's x AI (renamed Space XAI). The acquisition price was $60 billion.

With access to "the largest fleet of GPUs in the world," Cursor can now develop low-cost AI models. Partnering with x AI, the companies released Grok 4.5, designed for coding, agentic tasks, and knowledge work. They subsequently launched Grok 4.6, tailored for real-life applications including general coding, web development, and computer-aided design.

Both models aim to deliver results at significantly lower costs.
