Space XAI Unveils Grok 4.5, New Coding AI

Space XAI, freshly rebranded from xAI, launched Grok 4.5, its first model trained with AI firm Cursor. The team ran tens of thousands of NVIDIA GB300 GPUs on coding, science, engineering and math datasets to produce a system tuned for coding, agentic tasks and knowledge work.

Benchmarks show Grok 4.5 outpaces competitors on real engineering challenges. In a demo, the model generated an interactive solar‑system simulation from a single prompt, proving its ability to build functional apps with minimal instruction and offering faster response times than flash models.

Pricing charges $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. For reference, OpenAI’s GPT‑5.6 Sol variant costs $5 and $30 per million, while its Luna variant costs $1 and $6. Grok 4.5 delivers a cheaper path for high‑volume code generation.

The model powers the terminal‑based AI coding agent Grok Build, extending support to Excel, PowerPoint and Word. It is also available through the Space XAI console and all Cursor plans. Users outside the EU cannot access it until mid‑July. A partnership signed in April may lead to a $10 billion investment or a $60 billion acquisition, indicating a shift toward consolidation in the AI tooling market.
