Sony has rolled out the Xperia 1 VIII, its newest flagship aimed squarely at photographers. A 6.5‑inch OLED panel sits behind Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, while a 12‑megapixel front shooter handles selfies. The device arrives in Graphite Black, Iolite Silver, Garnet Red and Native Gold, with the base 12 GB/256 GB model priced at €1,499 in Europe for early adopters.

The highlight is Sony’s AI Camera Assistant, powered by Xperia Intelligence, which analyses scene, subject and weather to suggest tone, lens and bokeh. Tap a recommendation and the app applies it instantly. Behind the telephoto lens sits a 1/1.56‑inch sensor four times larger than the previous generation—delivering richer detail in low light, aided by RAW multi‑frame, HDR and noise‑reduction processing.

Beyond photography, Sony retains a 3.5 mm headphone jack—a rarity on modern flagships—and bundles a free pair of WH-1000XM6 headphones with every pre‑order. The higher‑end 16 GB/1 TB variant sells for €1,999, while European customers can expect delivery as early as June. No U.S. launch is planned, keeping the model region‑locked for photography‑enthusiasts seeking premium imaging performance and premium audio experience today worldwide.
