Mega Crit Games has announced that Slay the Spire 2 will enter early access on Steam starting March 5, 2026. The sequel to the beloved 2019 roguelike deckbuilder aims to build on its predecessor's success with new features and improvements. The developers emphasized that early access is crucial for gathering player feedback to balance content, add quality-of-life features, and ensure the game runs smoothly.

During this phase, Mega Crit plans to test experimental features, try exotic designs, and identify niche problems before the official release. The team expects the early access period to last a year or two, or more generally "until the game feels great." This extended testing window reflects the developers' commitment to delivering a polished final product.

The sequel introduces a new co-op mode allowing up to four players to team up, featuring unique multiplayer cards and team-wide synergies. Some characters from the original game will return alongside new additions. The original Slay the Spire remains available on iOS, consoles, and PC, including as part of Apple Arcade, giving newcomers multiple ways to experience the franchise before the sequel's early access launch.
